Theo Hoogstins:
double bass
Vincent Koning: guitar
In the tradition of duo's as like Jim Hall en
Red Mitchell (or Ron Carter), these two dutch musicians play a repertoire
of standards, beautiful ballads and compositions by themselves. On
of the most characteristic qualities of this duo is the bowed bass by Theo
Hoogstins. His classic training at the conservatory in Groningen enables
him to bow tunes with a warm and sensitive tone.
Vincent Koning, originally from Den Helder,
Holland and nephew of dutch star trumpet player Jarmo Hoogendijk, finished
his study at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and studied additionally
at the conservatory in Hilversum, sponsored by the Dutch Music Award. He
is one of the most talented guitar players of the new generation of jazz
musicians, playing very nice harmonized introductions and being a very
reliable and inventive accompanist. In 1996 toured through Japan, was part
of the conservatory big band, De Boventoon and a number of smaller bands.
In the summer of 1998, Vincent and Theo played the North Sea Jazz festival
in The Hague, Holland.
